Mike Hertzer, President
Mike Hertzer worked his way up through the ranks of ModernLandscaping, becoming president in 2003. Known as a contractor who over-delivers, Mike is driven by high standards and a passion for perfection. Before the client does a final walk-through, Mike personally inspects each job. “I want every last detail to be perfect. There’s no way around it- each job is just as important as if it were my own home.”
Klaus Hertzer, Founder & Designer
Now semi-retired, Klaus Hertzer still finds himself busier than ever. Passion for horticulture and consistent attention to detail translated to life-long success for this celebrated designer and his award- winning business. Klaus treats each project as if it were his own. “Customer satisfaction is not enough. I have to be satisfied as well.”
Jeff Press, Project Manager
In 2008 Jeff joined the Modern Landscaping team, overseeing production of the projects. However, his experience with the award winning company goes back much further. As a licensed contractor, Jeff Press ran his own landscaping business for 17 years. Along the way he hired Modern Landscaping as a subcontractor. The impression was a lasting one: “Best subcontractor we hired, bar none. They got the job done on time and got it done better than any job that we had.”
Marcelino Castillo, Supervisor
In 1981 Marcelino Castillo was digging trenches for ModernLandscaping. Over the course of nearly three decades, Marcelino mastered everything from irrigation, carpentry to masonry and planting. Marcelino now leads groups of men on the projects and feels proud of his contribution. “When we win a trophy, it’s a project I’ve been working on.”
Carlos Velasquez, Supervisor
Like most Modern Landscaping professionals, Carlos Velasquez deftly handles all aspects of the job, from irrigation to masonry. As foreman his priority is to do the job according to specifications while maintaining a safe work environment. His teams often consist of the same group of men, so communication and efficiency remain at a very high level. Carlos’ training pays off regularly: “When we excel at something challenging, I feel we’re great.”
Armando Berrera, Supervisor
Since 1998 Armando Berrera has been involved in all aspects of Modern Landscaping Inc.’s prize winning construction. Over the years Armando has perfected the art of putting in sprinklers and building beautiful stone walls. Now a supervisor, Armando still relishes working alongside as well as instructing his team of men. “I like this job because I like to work hard.”
Modern Landscaping, Inc. has been building award winning garden estates in Palo Alto and neighboring communities since 1972. Tranquility Cremation Service
Tranquility Cremation Service specialists will assist you 24 hours a day, whether your loved one passes at a hospital or in the middle of the night at home. Call us at 1800 555-5555 and we will offer immediate help.
In addition to Tranquility’s practical services, our site offers an outside listing of grief counselors to bolster you during this painful period. Complete funeral arrangements can be made in three easy steps.
Step 1: Collecting loved one
Once we’ve taken down some basic information, Tranquility will collect your loved one from your home, the hospital or nursing home. At this point you’ll just need to fill out a release form. This can be done entirely online. If the situation proves too overwhelming to get to a computer, we can also proceed with phone approval.
Step 2: Deciding funeral arrangements
Honoring a loved one’s life is one of society’s most important rituals. As such, funerals require you to make a host of meaningful decisions. Take your time deliberating these details. The first important step: decide between burial and cremation. From the privacy of your home, browse our online shop for the appropriate casket or urn.
Once you’ve decided on the method, decide on theservice. In the case of cremation, you can opt for a scattering service or you can have the ashes returned to you, housed in an urn. For both burial and cremation, consider whether you’d like to first have a viewing ceremony.
The memorial service pays tribute to your loved one’s life. We facilitate this esteemed ritual with announcement cards and stationery that inform your community of your loved one’s passing. Once you’ve decided on a date and announced the ceremony, order flowers for the service.
Choose the final resting place for your loved one. Our country’s veterans have the additional option of National Cemeteries. Submit an obituary announcement. Do this not only locally, but to the “back home” newspaper as well.
The final step is as important as the first: choose the appropriate religious official to perform the ceremony. Consult our list of ministers and rabbis for guidance.
Step 3: Completing final contract
Now that you’ve decided on the details of the funeral arrangement, filling out the legal forms is the easy part. Because the entire process is automated, you won’t have form after form to download, print and fax. Just fill out the information online and the data will automatically populate all the appropriate fields.
This final step approves the arrangements and gives us the authority to proceed. Once the death certificate has been processed we will contact the appropriate agencies, such as the DMV and Social Security Administration.
